Exercise Type: Run
Comments:
So I was supposed to get on a plane to fly to San Antonio this morning. My flight was scheduled to leave at 8:30am. I arrive at the airport at 8:10am (and I would've gotten there earlier had I not had to scrape a fuck ton of frost off my car), and in the past arriving 20 min before departure at the Lansing airport had ALWAYS been ok. Definitely cutting it close but still doable. But that's when I was flying on Delta, not American Airlines.
I fly a lot. Always on Delta, and I have never missed a flight. Delta has this app that tells you to check in 24 hours before departure, and gives you your boarding pass on the app. American Airlines does not.
Like I said, I have flown a lot and am experienced with how the process works. So I am used to just showing up at the airport and immediately going through security to get to my gate because I already am checked in with my boarding pass. But you see, I was very busy yesterday and forgot to check in (and I never received any notification/email reminder from American Airlines to do so) and therefore had to check in once I got to the airport. And of course, 20 minutes before departure is too late to check in. So, I missed my flight. And guess what? American Airlines has so few flights that I had to take the only other one to get me to San Antonio leaving at 3:30pm now. If I were flying on Delta, there were many many other flights that I could've switched to to get me to San Antonio on time. I was originally gonna arrive in SA at like 1:30pm and have plenty of time to see the city, relax, and have dinner with potentially future co-workers. Now, I am going to have to miss all that cuz I'm not going to be arriving in SA until 11:00pm (central time).
Fortunately, I received confirmation from with the company I am interviewing with (USAA) that I am not missing much - just an informal dinner that is more about convincing me to move to SA and work for USAA. The REALLY important day is tomorrow where I will have a long day of hardcore interviews. So the downside of arriving late is that I might be tired for the interviews but I'll get through it.
SO, about the run:
I originally was going to go for a run in San Antonio this evening, but since I had all this time here I went for a run here. I went fairly quick but it felt really easy.
