Today i felt great. I knew I had to show myself today because i know i could get under 19, but i just needed to push myself. To do that I wanted to stay with dan because i thought he was gonna kill it because of him being on varsity before, but i could't catch him at first so I stayed with rorie and Bakow, and just moved up. I was amazed at Bakow, he really wanted this race and it showed, he was keeping a great pace and was a ways infront of me and rorie. I told rorie that i had to catch him and he told me we would, so we would just take turns making a little break and moving up. Slowly we got to him, and he would break away again so we just kept speeding up to get him. My first mile I felt great, i really missed running with a partner and running with rorie made it easier to keep going. we worked off eachother and kept making sure to pick it up, and the other would speed up to catch too. The 2nd mile i was starting to feel the pain but i knew i had to catch Bakow and stay in front of him still. Rorie and I just kept pushing harder to get up in places. When we went around the trees where the park was, rorie began to lose me, but i knew i had to stay with him so picked it up on the sand to stay with him. On the final stretch i felt like i had done all i could and couldn't sprint and then i saw rusty and my middle school cross country coach, and seeing them both and thinking how much time they have put into making me what i am now, i knew i had to sprint even if it meant me pushing myself as hard as i could. I started to really pick up the pace, and then i saw taylor and i just screamed something and just started sprinting. I passed rorie and a pack of around 4+ people and just kept hammering on. i took a bad choice and tried to go left around a rocky kid and he cut me off and i almost went into the flags and slowed down a bit, but passed him and right before the line i got passed by a centennial kid, but i knew that i had done the most i could and thats what counted. I really felt great at districts and knew i had to show myself because i hadn't done it all season. I wish i would have pushed myself during the season more but i am happy with my time because i had finally gotten under 19's with a 18:57. even if it was 3 seconds, it was still under 19 and that made me proud of myself because i know i pushed myself.
