Comments:
6x800 at 5k pace w/ 400m jog. Not too difficult. For some odd reason the second interval was slow. Red Cap hung with me again the whole time which was good. Rip to the mid-distance group who did a distance-styled workout that was pretty damn difficult. #TrustTheProcess I guess. Splits:

Whole workout felt really good, including the last one. Should be ready to throw down something good on Friday.
EDIT: Should have gone a bit faster or done more reps. Actually not quite sure Jack Daniels/Lucas Werner had us doing only 6. Checked last year and on January 9th (which was the first Jenison workout) I did 8 reps of this workout averaging 2:30.7.
Another interesting workout I found in my log from last year was one on January 23rd. I did 4x1600 at 8k??? pace w/ 400m recovery (5:21.4, 5:18.9, 5:19.0, 5:18.8), and then 2x800 w/ 200m recovery (2:33.2, 2:19.1). Then 4 days later I set my PR in the 5k with a 15:47.90 at SVSU. I forgot how good of shape I was in back then. Would have loved to see where my season would have gone had I not gotten injured.
ALSO looked back in my log and I was in better swimming shape at this point last year than I am now :(
