Exercise Type: Run
Comments:
Speed work has always been tough for me. Don't get me wrong though - I know it is important for any distance - but it is just not something my body has ever been good at, not just in running but swimming and biking too.
Today's workout was 8x600 @ mile "pace" with 600 jog inbetween. We had a decent crew go outside today even though the weather was arguably the worst since I moved out of Jenison. There was a nasty wind that bit you coming down the homestretch. With these being 600's, we did kind of cheat and get two tailwinds, but whatever. Splits were as follows:
1:45.5
1:43.9
1:46.1
1:46.1
1:46.3
1:45.8
1:46.5
1:46.4
avg. 1:45.8
Now I'm not going to kid myself. These were slow. But I am not too mad about it because the effort was there which is always more important than anything and I am not training for the mile. This workout was good for me to just get my legs moving faster than usual. I did get the speed workout headaches at the end so you know I was working hard. And I kept things pretty damn consistent for both the whole workout and during each interval. Like typically on each each interval I would hit 35, 1:10.5, 1:46.
So I guess life is going ok. Going to be turning my semester around this week academically because I have been neglecting lots of schoolwork lately. Although my gpa literally does not matter anymore, it still is depressing to get anything below a 3.0 when I know I can be a 4.0 student if I just put in the effort like I have for most of my academic career. Oh well. I could talk about all this for hours if I wanted but I think I'll just leave it at that.
In other news, I put up three pictures of jesus in the burner today because this house needs jesus. More people are hearing about the shenanigans from the weekend and this is amazing. I love this club so much. Heroes get remembered but legends never die.
Oh and Lucas is saying the Burner will be throwing a party on either March 30th or April 6th. Theme is TBD but we are thinking something along the lines of "Workout bros and respecting women", "golf pros and tennis hoes", or "get fit. get lit". No broken bedframe to worry about this time ;)
