Actually, it's not more laps than a normal workout for me, but when they're broken up into 2-mile, mile, mile, mile, it feels a lot more intimidating than shorter intervals. Still, I got into a rhythm pretty quickly and didn't mind. Breaking up the 16 laps (and later the 8 laps) into four sections helped a lot. As usual, I arrived with a mix of trepidation and interest and left feeling like a million bucks. I can't believe we managed to cut down our times so dramatically.
