Lake minneola half

April 8, 2018 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Comments:
*ack I accidentally forgot to start my watch right at start. Also had some heat/electrolyte issues that started mile 10-11. I knew I should’ve stopped and mixed some of my stuff or taken an extra tablet but didn’t want to lose time. We gotta start working on that I guess. Overall not sad, did well just a warm day after a cold season. Races done now until a trail half (planning to mostly walk) in the end of June then iggys 4 for speed in July. Woohoo

Ok missy we’ve Been through this rodeo before.!!
I think you need to expect it to be a hot and hilly day once again.
Do not go into this race thinking it will be flat. They lie!

Since orange blossom, which was only a month ago, you have PRed in a 5k, ran faster at Excalibur, gotten another quality long run in and have had numerous workouts mid week that suggest you can run this race faster than ever if all the stars align.

I want to take the first 3 miles conservative in the low 10’s as usual but Be confident enough to really take some chances in the middle of the race.
Sure it will have hills,.... but hopefully you can make up some time on the downhills and shoot for every mile to be sub 10:15 or close to it.

Your body is fit enough to do this, ...so I suggest you don’t worry so much about pacing and focus more on racing!!
It’s a big race. Let’s try to pass as many people as possible.
If one of your miles happens to go sub 10, don’t stress your body can handle it.
If one of the miles, goes high 10, it’s ok,...just get back on track and focus on racing.

I think the key to this race for you will be mental.
Expect some pain but remember it’s no different than pain in training. Push through those last 3 miles knowing that you have left nothing out there and aiming to finish with no regrets.

Whatever happens, you are in such an amazing place run wise.
You continue to improve despite setbacks and sickness and injury and race directors that lie about courses.
It’s because you are talented and resilient. So keep this in mind when racing today!!!
