Ana, Ilana, Jacob, and Isabel adventure

April 1, 2018 (Afternoon)

Exercise Type: Run

Comments:
Met up with a posse of GDS goofballs in front of my parents' house in DC. First there was a message from Jacob Gaba on my phone announcing he'd made a wrong turn on his bike, despite having been to this neighborhood a million times for, well, other reasons. Then Ana Gunther showed up, on time, peppy, and ready to go as usual. Then a somewhat bleary-eyed and flustered Ilana Zellinger leapt out of a passing car announcing that she'd been asleep and hadn't known about this run about until Ana has texted her 20 minutes before. Isabel was not on hand... I'll return to that later. Once Jacob arrived we ran down to Rock Creek Park on some of the unofficial trails that I found and attempted to map and name back in high school or college. They're sandwiched between the Western Ridge Trail (the main trail west of Beach Drive) and Oregon Ave.
We went out via Tennyson and came back via Pinehurst branch trial which turned out to be a pretty good loop. As we were stretching who should come bounding eagerly up the sidewalk but Isabel Kirsch, who has gotten the time wrong by half an hour, spend 10 minutes doing high knees and butt kicks in front of my parents house, another 20 minutes searching the neighborhood for us, a finally returned just in time to join our stretching party. Later, I ran with her and Ilana back to Ilana's house near GDS where I was introduced to the Zellinger's highly-excitable dog, and then to Isabel's house where I hung out for the better part of an hour talking with her and her father about college choices, baseball, art, academia, and our mutual relatives (fun fact: the Kirsches and I are cousin-in-laws). All in all, I have no idea how far I ran over the course of 3 hours, but 9 feels like a reasonable guess.
