No Hillsdale Magic (2018)

Well, the Hillsdale Magic just wasn't happening for the 2nd year in a row. Maybe Hillsdale Magic is just a myth or a one and done thing from my freshmen year. Who knows man? Some get it (T-Cook) and other don't (probably 70% of everyone else).

The wind on the back stretch is what prevented most fast times today, but I think I just did a bad job of maintaining fitness. I didn't do any workouts this week and didn't do a ton last week, so RIP. It definitely stinks, because I've been trying to break away from the barely sub 4:10 times for a while, but alas it just didn't happen this season.

My race went out pretty fine. One dude took the pace and brought us out in 64-65, so I stayed right behind him. I made an effort to not take the lead, but I noticed the pace was slowing on the 2nd lap. We came through the 800 in the usual 2:12 (literally every time lmao) and then every single person came to a halt. So, of course I took the lead and took the brunt of the wind. With 500m to go, one guy sprinted ahead of me and I tried to go ahead of him, but had the typical lack of leg speed to leave me finishing 4th in the heat. No speed in the last 100m but I tried. I finished in a consistent, but season worst time of 4:09.72.

I had ambitions this season to break the previous club record and even possibly take back the 1500m. Unfortunately, I really achieved none of my goals in the 1500m this season, besides PRing by one second from last year. So I'm pretty bummed about the overall outdoor season. It wasn't bad, but just not where I wanted to finish at all. I still feel no where ready to completely end the season, but I'm definitely not running any more 1500ms.

Fuck this race. Fuck this weekend. Sorry for the depressing post, but just wish it could've went better.

Also rest in peace to my zoom victorys. I will likely be retired them and they're pretty torn apart at this point. They served me well though.
