Comments:
Well guys, as you probably already know, I decided to run the Bayshore Marathon. I wasn't happy with how my outdoor track season ended, so what better way to compensate for that than running 25 miles further than usual! Lol I'm about to get fucked.

I decided to do a long run with Austin and Tyler to see how i feel, since I haven't done a long run since XC season (I know, i know). It was a pretty hot day, but the plan was to try to do 18 miles. Now the most I've ever gone is 17.58 mile my junior year of high school. I managed to survive that but then proceeded to not run for a month and almost give up on running lol. So, 18 miles was ambitious. But luckily 2 out of the 3 people survived the entirety of the 18 miles... i was not one of those 2 people.

We did a Capital Loop, then ran to Mount Hope, then a loop around IM West to Farm, and then I died at Wilson road attempting to do a campus loop. I felt ok for the first 10 miles, but I got more and more dehydrated as the run went on. Around mile 10, I was really struggling to keep up with the boyz and was falling back on the way to IM West. Even after drinking some water, I was pretty drained and dehydrated. I ran with Tyler, Austin, Red Cap, Zack, and Amanda Young, until I got to Wilson road. I dropped from them hard and my hips tightened up a lot. So, unfortunately I stopped the run there, but still got a total of 14 miles in for the day. Not bad for not doing a long run in a while.

Then after that I walked from Wilson road, drank water at Wonders, and walk of shamed it all the back to Gunson. Big L, but I think if I adjust my marathon goals accordingly, I can survive the distance and qualify for Chicago (which is the ultimate goal).

Ok now that that part of the log is over, I gotta recap the season and leave my final statement for the treasury (if stuff can still be added).

Season Recap: I wasn't satisfied with how I did in the outdoor season. I had an amazing indoor season and dropped 2 great miles and 1 sub 2 minute 800, but outdoor season was lackluster. I ran between 2:00 to 2:01 for my 800s and got stuck in the 4:07 to 4:09 zone for 4 1500s in a row. Definitely far from my goals of breaking the previous 1500m outdoor record, but luckily I still have one more year. We also have a promising 4x800m squad future, so I'm happy with that as well.

Final statement: Well boyz, I guess this is it for the season. BJ and Lucas, it's been an pleasure living and running with you for these last 2 years. When I first decided to room with you guys during my freshmen year, I didn't know what I was getting myself into. I hardly knew you guys, so definitely one of the bigger risks I've taken. But it paid off and being apart of the Gunson Burner has given me a legendary college experience.

BJ, one of my favorite memories with you was when we came back from that James Madison party last year and shot the shit about girls for about an hour before Pat Frahm tried told us we had the weakest game in the Gunson Burner (wack). I'd say we proved Frahm wrong and if any of us every somehow use him as a wingman, we need to go to the top floor of Hubbard. But in all seriousness, I definitely respect your Paul Chelimo level grind. That NIRCA Nats 5K was a huge inspiration regardless if it didn't end as a planned. I don't think any other runner in this club has your level of grind and commitment to not just running, but life. I bet you're gonna kill it out there in Madison. I'll miss living with you and running with you.

Lucas, a lot was already said in my senior speech to you, but I'm definitely gonna miss seeing you around as often. One of the most legendary memories with you was during my 19th birthday when we both took 7 shots of white rum and got absolutely blasted. Still don't know why we did that as we proceeded to get straight destroyed, but it was a great memory lol. I also enjoyed a lot of times when we were bored over the summer and put my Flotrack account to use and watched extremely shitty meets. We got to see Rob Scanlon in his post NIRCA career, so maybe that was at least worth it. But without you, the club's mid distance and distance programs would not have been nearly as good. You put together a great training program and pretty much everyone found themselves PRing and doing better, because of that. You've been a great competitor and better friend throughout this last year and I'll miss hanging out with you and constantly shooting the shit next year.

Sorry boyz and girlz, I'm not great at being sentimental, but those are my words. For the rest of you loggers, I hope to see you on here during the summer. Stay committed, use this log to hold yourself accountable, and come out and kill this XC season.

Signing Off,

RVP
