It had been too long

August 6, 2018 (Night)

Exercise Type: Swim

Comments:
It had been too long since I had swum - 4 days off. Not happy about having to take that much time off, but it was worth it for this weekend. In the pool I did a standard 6x500 on the 8:00, hitting 6:38,6:36,6:40,6:34,6:38,6:30.

It had ALSO been too long since I had had a good Saturday with the boys, especially since Saturdays ARE for the boys (and respecting women). So I'm going to recap my weekend in The 'Twan for my own sake.

I originally had no plans to travel this weekend but it was a good thing I did because otherwise I would have been bored out of my mind here in Wisco. So when Austin said I should come, I said alright. But I had no intention of racing a 5k. Until he said that I was.

Took the afternoon on Friday off of work and headed tot he DMV to get my Wisconsin license and plates. Turns out the bolts on my car are too rusted for me to get them off so I really don't know what I am going to do about that. ANYWAY I get on the road and start heading towards Michigan but not before having to travel through perhaps the worst state in the United States: Illinois. Man, just fuck that state so much. Don't understand why so many people can enjoy living there. Finally made it to Austin's place after 6 hours of driving. It had been nearly 3 months since I had last been in Michigan wow! Got me thinking now and I really don't know the next time that will be happening. But whenever that next happens, I am definitely flying. I am already dreading the drive to Cleveland this upcoming weekend bc that means I am going to have to go through Illinois again. Ugh.

Anyway, I guess I came to The 'Twan to clap some cheeks or something in a 5k. After all that driving, hardly any sleep on Friday night, and warming up in my Begone Thot cutoff (thank you again @Austin @Tyler for that), I went out and did what I was supposed to. This was a rare race in which there were literally no distance markers and I never wear my gps watch for races so I had not a clue what the pace was or how far I was in the race. Also ran on some grass. Didn't think I would be ever doing that again.

Started off drafting on some Special Olympics kid for a half mile or something. Then I started clipping his feet bc he was slowing down. First it's the feet, then it's the cheeks. So I channeled some BDE and just went out and started striding. Finished the race alright. 100% would have gone under 16:00 if I had known any of the distance markers on the course. While racing I legitimately was thinking, "alright, either I am running 5:10 miles or 5:30 miles. I really don't know."

The rest of the day was great. I got to look like a complete tool with my clout goggles. And tbh, our squad looked like a bunch of goons. Kind of an omen for later.

Terrific time playing Presidents. Another thing I had not done in a VERY long time. Pleasant reminder of how fun that game can be. Also got savaged by Natalie on the river TWICE in poker. That was aggravating, but Saturdays are also for respecting for women so it had to happen.

Later, it was a fabulous time getting crossed, another thing I had not done in a long time. Had a good USA Drinking Team training sesh with the boys. I spent most of night outside getting baked with the goons while Isaac was rolling a joint at the slowest rate I had ever seen someone roll a joint. I know that most people think it's wack, but I like shooting the shit with goons and observing their behavior. I can tell you all for sure that those goons will be going no where in life.

Surprisingly I didn't get blacked. Just really crossed. If I had not hung outside with the goons, I 100% would have been drinking the goose inside instead and that would have been a disaster.

Just a quality weekend overall and I am very happy that I overcame the Sugondese strain of Illinois ligma and made it. Shout out to main man Steve though. Every single person I know named Steve is just a phenomenal person.

Excited to do big things with Tall Paul and Squanda in Toledo next Saturday.
