Mountain run

September 16, 2018 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Comments:
Ran up the Trebevi? mountain trail from my apartment to the Olympic bobsled track, then veered off following the bobsled track to the base of the Cable Car, explored the remains of an Austro-Hungarian fort where a bunch of Bosnians were having picnics, and then continue across the road an up the mountain toward the summit. In all I ran about 45 minutes of continuous uphill with only a couple short breaks to check the map, and then another 15-20min of uphill across the road. The summit is at least 2 hours hike (probably another hour run) from the road, so I left it for another day. I managed to make the run into a loop via a side trail, though I later realized I need to careful about such detours due to the possiblity of uncleared landmines from the 1990s war. I popped out at little resort with a spectular view of the valley and then made my way back to the Cable Car via new bike trail/walking path built by USAID. There were several lovely overlooks where I stopped to sit and take in the view. I don't really know how far I ran but for sake of this log I'm treating the miles as "effort miles" so 8-minute-per-mile effort will count as a mile even though it was probably a lot less than that when the road was so steep. The whole run was between an hour and a half and two hours.

Took the cable car down. The Bosnians in my car got really quiet and spoke in whispers, I think because it was so beautiful. I could ride that thing again and again, just taking in the sunlight flitting off the rooftops.
