Big Things (long log)

September 28, 2018 (Afternoon)

Exercise Type: Run

Comments:
On Wednesday night, Lucas and I did big things in Mad Town. Before I go on and log the night, let me first say this: MSU > UW-Madison in partying and it is NOT close. Wisconsin has a big reputation of being the “#1 party school in the Big 10” but there is simply not a chance that is true. I’m sure that they go hard on Fridays/Saturdays, but what college doesn’t? I’m telling ya, this “party school” is a massive fraud.

Anyway, our first stop was the student union where we were gonna meet up with Dutch for a hot second. While we were waiting for Dutch, Lucas and I shared a pitcher of beer. Deadass, right there in the student union, you can just go up and get all the beer you want and take it wherever you want. So we go and enjoy the pitcher right in the place where everybody was studying. Can you imagine if MSU had such a thing? Anyway, at about 10:30pm and after hanging with Dutch, Lucas and I bounced and headed to our next stop: Kollege Klub.

On our way to KK, we passed by some crackhead getting arrested. Lots of homeless people in Madison. Kollege Klub is pretty much UW’s Rick’s – super degen. But, it was certifiably not lit so we bounced and headed to our next destination: State Street Brats.

SSB was alright, but again very much NOT lit. And it was past 11pm, where was everybody? At 11pm on Wednesdays at MSU there is a line around the corner to get into Harper’s… Maybe we just haven’t found that place yet. So, we bounced yet again and went to our next destination: Wando’s.

Alright we didn’t actually go into Wando’s because there was like 10 people inside so we didn’t even give it a chance. Next stop: the Double U.

The Double U had MAD potential. But again, certifiably not lit. Only like 14 people in the building. So Lucas and played darts and made friends wuith a couple of other guys and we chirped them HARd about how poor the UW bar scene is on Wednesday nights. Then we asked if there was any big day party at any of the bars on Thursdays, like Rama or Bash. Nothing. UW only parties on Fridays and Saturdays. And you guys call yourself a party school? Pathetic. Then we got kicked out of The Double U because they were closing at MIDNIGHT. That’s how unlit it was. So we Lucas and I and our two new friends headed to our final stop: the Church Key.

No surprise here again: Only like 14 people in the place. But there was more darts so we played more and made another couple friends that were crazy animals. Then at 1:20am, good and drunk, I decided it best to start heading home as I did indeed have a full work day ahead of me the next day. As humiliating as it is for a Big Baller like me top admit it to, I actually had to take an Uber home. Sure, I could’ve run, but I actually need to get home fast and to bed. Because ya know, I actually had responsibilities to tend to early the next day.

Overall, even though every single place was lame, I could tell there was certainly loads of potential for all these places to be NUTS on Fridays and Saturdays. In Madison, every bar is two stories. And none of them charge cover.

Thursday wasn’t the most fun day at the office as I was mildly hung, but I needed this. It was so much fun to hang out with Lucas and even make a couple of friends. And now I have finally seen the Mad Town bar scene (kind of) after almost 4 months here lol.

One more thing: getting that paper makes bars a lot more fun. It feels good to be able to buy whatever drinks you want for both yourself and others without having to worry much about financial stability.
