It’s always sunny in Jenn-idelphia

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: SUNNY! ALL THE SUNNY!

Comments:
Another week, another MAC/ISL reunion run with John Biersteker (GDS ‘05) and Jenn Esch (Sidwell ‘05). Jenn has law school classes starting at 8am, but being the saint that she is she decided she was willing to cut it really close so that all of us could sleep in a little later. I have infinite respect for any woman willing to show up to class without having showered, even as I pity her seatmates. Though I dreaded having to wake up early it turned out not to be a problem because I never went to sleep in the first place. Kiddos, never leave writing a 10-paged single spaced application for the last minute... you always need more time than you think. In any case, it was still nighttime dark when I left my apartment to get in my car, gloomy dark when I pickup up John, but when we got to Jenn’s place 5 min later the sun was shining! Okay, maybe it’s because Jenn always has a huge smile when we see her. More likely though, it’s cause all three of us were wearing bright yellow reflective vests! Whatever the reason everything felt suddenly bright and sunny as we started our run, talking mostly about cats as we cut through North Cambridge and popped out on Fresh Pond. On the far side of the pond we were confronted with a sunrise so beautiful that I had to pause in the middle of the story I was telling to fully appreciate the colors dancing on the water and shimmying through the trees.

I feel a bit sore from last nights track workout but the good kind of sore. John is recovering from an 8 minute PR in the Philly Marathon 2-1/2 weeks ago, so I imagine his is different kind of well earned soreness. Still, when the three of us got passed by a not-so-elite looking runner wearing a fanny pack, we exchanged a rather sheepish look.

Well America, that’s all for now. I’m writing this log from 40,000 feet over the Atlantic Ocean en route to Sarajevo. My application for the 20,000 grant is finally submitted as of 10 minutes ago (thanks to some last minute help from my folks uploading it into the portal). It’s been a crazy fun memorable 35 hours including 5 bagels, 2 runs, a political science workshop, dinner with Rob Savitsky (‘04) , and the meeting with my advisor in 6 months, but I think I can finally go to sleep.
