Exercise Type: Run
Comments:
My left glute continues to be very tight to the point where I'm worried that I might end up really hurting myself tomorrow, possibly my hamstring. I've felt it walking around all day. Most likely a result of skiing Wednesday and then running for so long the same evening and the following morning, though it didn't start bothering me until after that second run. Other than that, I'm feeling pretty good. Legs feel light and ready to race. After arriving in Athens this afternoon, I did a loop around the Acropolis and retraced my way through some touristy neighborhoods like the Plaka that I'd gotten to know this summer. The Acropolis looks absolutely stunning lit up at night. Did my best to avoid any hills. Stopped by the Theatre of Dionysus to look at the stars and listen to a couple girls sitting on the ledge sing a beautiful duet. Shortly thereafter I stumbled upon a little observatory that was having an open house and so of course I had to go in, wait in line, and look at the moon through their mighty telescope. Passed some sort of political rally in from the Parliament Building in Syntagama Square where the race will start and end tomorrow; a bunch of folks where waving Greek flags and were conversing with passersby. Ended my run at the Benaki Museum, where I had a delicious dinner and with free admission (thanks to the half marathon) explored the art of the Greek Revolution. Pretty decent adventure for such a short run!
