Another Day, Another Julia

Does anyone know if Julia Novey is in town? Or Julia Katz? Or Julia Dohner? I feel like I'm on track to set a PR here. Today I ran with Julia Smith '15, who as those of you who follow running log as diligently as I do know, just graduated from Haverford and is off to start her Ph.D. in Chemistry at the University Wisconsin in Madison this fall. I thought to try and see if we could rediscover that network of little trails that lead up from Rock Creek Park in Maryland to the Forest Glen eclectic architectural ensemble where I once had a bunch of high school geometry students do a network mapping project, but I turned down the wrong side trail. No matter. We had a fun time exploring some little overgrown dirt paths between the bike trail and the creek with lots of downed trees. After a while we made our way through Ilana's dad's neighborhood up Jones Bridge past where Lauren Silberman lives back down Connecticut to the neighborhood between Bradley and East-West I used to try mentally map when I was in high schoool, to Julia's neighborhood on the other side of the Chevy Chase Country Club. All in all, I was suprised how far we'd gone - I hadn't planned it that way. I've finally come to admit to myself that I have no sense of how fast I'm going on any given run.
