Exercise Type: Run

Comments:
Today was pretty fantastic. Cruising for six miles nice and relaxed and the weather and beach was perfect. It was one of those ocean city winter days most people never get to see. The beach was a bright white and the sky was a dark gray blue color making it hard to distinguish the ocean from the sky. It was almost impossible to think about running it was simply fun. I ran with Eric Johnson a sophomore with talent and promise. He's loud obnoxious and funny, which is great to keep your mind off of running. But as we made our way back down the boardwalk to the track the sky's turned dark and the wind picked up making the reality of our task that much more prevalent. I kinda started to compare it in my head to training for war someplace beautiful. I'm in no way trying to compare a marathon to going to war God no. Although in training even though it is hard and arduous one can find joy in it, but the ever looming reality of what one is training for is never far from thought. If you let the thought of it slip into your mind it shoots through your body like adrenaline from your feet to your head. This may even bring thoughts of past races to mind, battling personal demons from the past. This all puts what I'm training for into perspective. I've trained for months for series of races where failure meant learning from your mistake and using that for the next week. Now I'm facing a marathon, a race I will train all year for and quite possibly fall to pieces in before I even reach the finish. As scattered as these thoughts are is only a glimpse of whats going on in my brain through the whole day. As negative as this all sounds I truly do have confidence in Bill(my coach) and his plans for my training. Its just difficult to have faith when you cant measure fitness with results...All in all today was a beautiful day for a distance run. Workout tomorrow....my mind roars with the what if's.....It will all end well.
