October 13, 2019 (Morning)
Exercise Type: Run
Comments:
Went for a recovery run today to try to help some of my leg muscles that hadn’t been used in a long time in yesterday’s meet. When I got up this morning it hurt just to walk around, my calves were on fire. My hamstrings and quads weren’t much better either so I knew I needed something to shake out my muscles.
Got my dog and my running shoes and headed out on to the Sligo Creek trail. The weather was nice and my breathing/legs felt good for the first half of the run. Listed to classic rock music as I cruised on along a path I had trained on so many days during the summer. It was all extremely nostalgic. As the leaves fell (I caught 3) and the music played, I thought about how grateful I am to be running again. Although it’s cliché, it’s very true and was the focus of my thoughts for about half of my run. At about 2 miles my legs began to get tired and the breathing also got harder. By the time I finished up on my hill I was pretty tired. The pace was faster than what my watch was saying and I probably should have been going slower. I’m gonna use a stationary bike later to finish up the day.
It’s still wild to me that a 3 mile run is longer than anything I have done in the last month+ with the exception of yesterday. Check out my log from yesterday if your bored (it’s really long)
