Nice little session

October 26, 2019 (Night)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: Drizzle

Comments:
I headed out along the Schuykill to Falls Bridge for the "10"-mile loop that I have grown so attached to. I felt pretty fresh from two days of no running, but was just plodding along and did not commit to a workout of any kind until I turned at the bridge around 35 minutes. Ordinarily, in this situation I would just pound out 4.5 miles, and jog it in for a mile or so. But today, remembering a conversation I had with Anthony and Sahil on a run in Rock Creek some time in the last year, I thought I would have some quality control to keep things interesting, so I broke it up into 4x6 minutes with two minute recovery. Believing those markers in white spray paint--every quarter mile is marked!--I was around 5:39 for the first one (with some slight downhill), 5:47, and then maybe 5:45 for the next two, but the mile markers I needed were covered in leaves, and I didn't feel like obsessively checking for 800 or 1200 splits. I felt great and recovered quickly. Maybe next week, especially if I decide to start writing stuff down here again, I'll do some faster stuff, because lately I've just been hammering runs if I feel good, and if not, not. Anyway, run good!
