Exercise Type: Run

Weather: Cloudy and gusty

Comments:
Double 0s (regular loops.... 28th to the Cathedral to Porter to Connecticut) to get to 7 miles.... this felt a lot better than I thought I would. Around halfway through the first loop I was like "okay, it's too gusty to go out and play tennis, why not go long", and while the first loop was a bit tough to get through knowing I had a whole other loop to do, it did feel really good.

Stopped back in the lobby to use the bathroom between the two loops, and tried to push hills on the second one (hard to do while distancing!). In the middle of loop #2 I realized this will have been the longest run I've gone on since track. And how it's been almost a year since I was an athlete. And I realized I've handed off my last baton.
And I've said my last run good. I thought about senior states for a while, and the unexpected. How it took me a while to trust myself during races. But in relays, it's almost as if I didn't have to trust myself so much because I was running so directly for my teammates. And how now I'm no longer going to be running for my teammates or wearing a uniform. And I knew that's what kept me going for so long.

But then when I started cruising downhill on Porter, I realized that I can be a runner again even if I'm not an athlete. That I'm still enjoying the accomplished feeling after a tough hill (and we all know how much I hate hills).

So I'm going to write it down here that I'm going to run the Cambridge Half Marathon in March to give me some accountability.

Sprinted up the last hill to my apartment which left me very winded, but felt satisfying.
