Exercise Type: Run
Comments:
My college teammate Andy Schmegel took me on a tour of two trails I'd long wanted to explore but were a bit outside my normal running/driving radius. The Rachel Carson trail is a bit more rugged and nature-like (in keeping with its namesake) with the Northwest Branch trail was wide and smooth with good footing (also less hilly). The stretch from Columbia Pike to Wheaton Park is entirely unpaved, unlike some of the lower portions which are good for biking. Had a great time discussing eating disorders, doping, and Olympic committee corruption on the way out, and a hearty debate over who was the best marathoner of all time and how you evaluate that on the way back. (rougher topics on a rougher trail). It raining most of the time which was glorious. Oh, and I caught a LEAF!
