Comments:
Good race. Alarm at 5:30, out of bed 5:48AM, little later than wanted but not bad. Had a bagel thin with some PB, water and yellow Gatorade. Did a shorter warm up 2ish and cooldown 1.3ish. Felt fine on the warmup. Relaized I forgot my vapors at 7:19 and ZOOMED back to meme's lol. Got on the line right before the antham at like 7:29. Took the pack out through the first mile at 5:07 even though they shouted 4:59...I checked my watch a few times say <5 an 5:12 during this. Couldn't decide to run on the sidewalk or road kept switiching. When we turned on Libby someone took the lead and I got nervous thast this was going to be a long race. Had some positive self talk though and was able to stick on his heals. On the incline at the end I passed him and heard 2 miles 10:01 but more realistically 10:20 probably. Knew the next bit was a little down hill so sped it up a little and settled in. Had two guys come up and match me throughout. Took the big downhill hard and felt a guy try to match me but couldn't pass. 3 mile water station I think I heard 15:33? went into the hills and pushed a little and that seemed to break everyone I was with. Turned onto lakehurts and that's the last I could hear people ehind me. Thought we would be making a right took a left but didn't let it get to me. Once we came out onto Mutton lane/pleasant st I check me watch and was 0.65 so knew I had 1.35ish to go but it seemed shorter so I started to say lets go and push. Ran next to the cop car for the pleasant street climb. Came through 4 mile in 20:40ish and thought to myself 1 mile 5:00 needed to get <26. Started passing the walkers and that def helped me go faster. Wish it was a FULL 5 i could have probably hit it <5 last mile. was on pace for 5:01 according to strava. Good finish won by 16 seconds. Glad I kept the hammer down and started it when I did. Trusted my training. I can go faster need to risk. 5k <15:00 would be epic.
