Spirit of marathon Training

March 28, 2010 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Comments:
This was the longest run I have ever done on a tread mill. It is also the long run that I have been on in over a ayear. A great milestone in what is an epic journey of pain, joy and sacrfice..

Today i was reintroduced to one of the many aspects that makes up what a marathon is to me and maybe for some of you too.

For me.. one part of running this race is not about being winded. Its not about being to sweaty or going too fast. Rather its persevering, its continuing on when your body says stop. Its taking the race one step at a time.

After Mile 6.. I felt something that i have not felt from runing in a very long time. Exhaustion. I had not eaten this morning, nor did i have snack near me. I was hungry and I weak.. Yet.. I pushed. For me that makes up a very large essensce of a marathon. You persevere and continue on against almost impossible odds. You become that human animal again. You free from all dramas in life. It is you, your running partner and the road... The never ending road...Against this eternity you run. You are unstoppable and for 26.2 miles you are a God....

The marathon for our group makes up so many things. A fun trip to chicago.. sometimes via train. The hostel. Deep dish pizza. and remincing over our youthful days.. The marathon will call us together for many years to come.

Yet it is much more than a simple trip. We all face our demons on the road. I cleanse myself mile after mile. Truly amazing and I am enthralled as I write.
