Exercise Type: Run
Weather: A little humid, but almost perfect.
Comments:
Today was the day I was actually running. Thanks to a rain delay the 3200 had been pushed back to setting sun. The conditions were great and I was excited for a good race. I was seeded 18th in the first (slow) heat. Everyone went out pretty fast as expected, but it was still a tight pack after 1 lap, where I was last. I was perfectly content being last for a little, but in the second pace I fell the pack splitting and pushed towards the front. I might have done too big a pick up and wasted too much energy. Hit the mile with John at 5:15. I felt good but the next too laps ended up being my slowest. I hesitated and didn't go with John which looking bad I think I should have. I went with 2.75 laps to go and had to make up about a 30 meter gap to the next pack into the windy backstretch. By the time I made it up I was starting to die. Once the last lap came I finally pushed and finished strong. I think I was 10th in the heat and 29th overall. I was pleased with a PR, but still think I could do better. Hopefully I get my chance this fall.
Nice job to John who won our heat with a 10:17.
