Before practice, Coach told me I don’t look like I’m having fun right now and I told her I feel like I am desperately chasing the shadow of my former self, but trying my best to take it day by day.
I decided to change my running philosophy of late and try sitting in the back of the pack instead of taking things into my own hands. I sat in the middle to back of the large first group through the entire way out, struggling some with heat for the third mile, but kept mentally strong. We turned around and fought back into the wind for the next mile, which seemed to take it out of some people but I felt better and cooler at least. On the way back, Austin and Ethan Teare were sort of breaking off the front some and I decided I actually felt good enough to go with them, so I finished in 34:23 with a heart rate of 180, actually not too badly.
Yay! My first decent workout in ten months!
