Silverwood!

September 12, 2010 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Comments:
Silverwood was so much fun this year! I love going on trips with the team. I loved the spaghetti and bread :), and ping pong basketball especially, and the ice bath felt real nice! I also love share items! Its like my favorite part! Then I got to sleep pretty fast, which usually doesn't happen the night before cuz of nerves. But then I woke up super early due to nerves and couldn't get back asleep, it was so annoying!
Anyways, I was super nervous before this race. I really need to get over it because I could probably run faster if I didn't get nervous. I have all these goals set for myself, but I'm so afraid of them. I mean, I feel like I can reach them, I know I can do it, but then there's always that part in me that thinks I can't-like my goals are too high, unrealistic even. But there was this sweatshirt that this kid was wearing at the meet that caught my eye and it said "God gave me the ability. The rest is up to me. Believe, believe, believe..." And it was a quote from someone, I forgot who... Anyways, it really struck me.
But about the race!
I got out pretty good, I didn't really have troubles getting out of the gate. (I felt super bad for this girl who COMPLETELY biffed it really bad, and then all these girls kept stepping on her with there spikes and stuff!) Rachael and Sarah were a bit ahead of me but I caught up with them before we hit the woods. I felt like we were going pretty fast the first mile, but its so pretty up there, that it was hard to focus on my pain. I was wondering what I was gonna do, though, when I hit the air strip because its hard for me to go fast on that part just becuase it feels so long. At the end of the first mile, Rachael and Sarah were ahead of me, and I never caught back up to them for the rest of the race. I think that was the most discouraging part of the race for me. Becuase I know that I can keep up with them, but I just didn't.
The second mile, felt pretty suckish. I didn't pass many people, maybe like one, and then I kept with this one group for a while. The third mile was alright. There was a ton of dust! Near the end, I just became really determined and passed a ton of girls. So that was a good point, I suppose. I'm just frustrated with myself because i got the exact same time as last year at this course.
I just feel like I'm in a rut, hopefully I'll get out soon. Alan Webb did it!
But the rides afterwards were so fun! I didn't go on aftershock though because i'm a weanie. NEXT YEAR THOUGH I PROMISE I WILL. But it was really really fun hanging out with the team afterwards at the park. Then PANDA for dinner was the icing on the cake. Super proud of our boys for getting 2nd, and our girls for taking 5th! Starting to get excited for the season!!! :)
