October 2, 2010 (Morning)
Exercise Type: Run
Comments:
Okay, so before this race happened, I was thinking to myself, "I don't want to do this race, I don't want to do this race," etc. etc. I got on the bus in the morning without warm up pants, because I totally spaced to get them on Friday, proceeded to my seat, sat down, and tried to sleep. When we got their I directed traffic then went to watch the J.V girls race and warm-up.
Now on to the race:
I started out okay, and I saw a guy fall flat on his face. I don't know if it was on purpose or on accident, but it was funny either way. :P Anyways, back to my race. On the first hill I thought to myself, "Oh my gosh, I'm tired already and we just hit our first hill." SO I was pretty dismayed. So before we even crossed the bridge, I was way in the back because of the bottle-neck, and I was freaking out because I thought there was no way I could get up there, but by the end I did, don't worry :D So I was running along, and when we got to the downhills I thought, "Now, here comes the fun part." So I used my extremely long legs to bound down the hill. I even jumped a few times to make it more fun. It helped.
When we got to The Hill, I said to Austin, "The Hill is coming up." We were both scared. I came up to the hill thinking, this is nothing, and I powered up it like I didn't think I could. At the top I passed Tom and caught up to Brady. Thank goodness I'm up to Brady! At the downhills he got farther ahead, but on the uphills I caught up to him. On the last uphill before the rest of the course is Downhill I passed Brady then started kicking it. I passed a whole bunch of people after that, and at the end I tried catching up to this guy that wasn't too far ahead of me, but I didn't. I finished with a time of 21:50, 3:50 faster than last year at this course, and only a minute slower than at Bob Firman. I was expecting to get 23 minutes, but thankfully, I didn't.
So in the end I realized that I actually did have fun, and that I really wanted to go to Bend. But those spots are taken up by those that run faster than me :P. It's okay, I'll get them next year!
