Exercise Type: Run

Weather: Great!

Comments:
Well, it's been a while since I've done a race reflection mostly cause I haven't felt like going over the pain of the race again. This race is the first race that I've actually felt great! I think it was partially because I had a goal (to beat Rorie's time from this course last year) and because I decided I wanted to feel great! Throughout the whole race, my main motivation was to beat Rorie. I kind of imagined him running along side me and he was panting and I wasn't.

At the start line, I said a little prayer that I would feel good and go away feeling like I couldn't have done better. The first mile was good. I started off pretty strong, and I felt great. I felt like I was doing pretty good of passing people. I think I cheer-leached again. There was a kid behind me named Connor, so I used his cheers. Unfortunately (but at the same time fortunately), I got too far ahead of him that I couldn't hear his cheers any more.

My second mile was great! I was passing people all over the place. I passed Nathan and AJ about halfway through. I felt invincible. I just kept passing people. I had started losing it, but Rusty told me to just pass that guy up there, and so I put on a bit of speed and got him.

My third mile wasn't the greatest. I started to run out of gas, and as soon as AJ passed me, I lost a lot of my steam. I was feeling like slowing down, but I remember what someone (sorry, can't remember who) said about Christ feeling pain worse than we can even imagine, and so I decided to keep going. I did pretty good at the finish. A Centennial guy was right behind me, and I think he beat me, but the guy calling it out said I beat him.

Overall, I'm ridiculously thrilled with the way this race went. I did beat Rorie's time (by 4.13 seconds, for those of you who are wondering.) My official time was 18:55.37 and Rorie's was 18:59.5. I'm also pumped about my 1 minute 1 second PR!

It's been a great season! Congrats to the girls for going to State for the second year in a row!
