Yesterday, I got the "bright" idea of running barefoot on the treadmill so I tried it. I made it about three miles before the bottom of my feet were burning bad enough that I put on shoes for the rest of it. My blister and ankle both felt fine.
My calves were very tight barefoot, but once I put shoes on, they felt fine. The pace also felt much easier with shoes on. I made some duct tape modifications to the shoes and it helped things a lot. My ankle started hurting briefly, but went away. The softer surface was a nice break for my body and I actually felt good. I ended up doing this as sort-of a progression run because it seemed like my various issues went away as I ran further.
Bottom line:
-The ankle is a manufactured injury and not something to worry about
-My large blister is improved
-The bottom of both feet feel like they are burning because running barefoot is a stupid idea
-Today is Christmas. Remember what that means.
