long swim--not the same as a long run

decided to swim after class-- it's weird having to work around what hours the pool is open. the outdoors are almost always open, that is, except for tonight, with freezing rain and who knows what else heading our way. anyways, i went into this thinking that i'd do 5x 400 swim, with 200 wu and 200 cd. however, i felt really good after the first 400, so i modified it to 4-6-6-4, the same total distance, but with the longer 600yd legs in between. i'm pretty sure the old pool is in yds, not meters, but i'll log it regardless. i got a little bit of a headache after the first 600, maybe i wasn't taking in enough oxygen, but it felt better as i went on. i don't usually swim that much at once, but it felt good.
went upstairs to stretch, did some abs, then headed to fribs because i had to be back for the drs appt at 6. as i expected, the xrays were inconclusive, but she told me to stay off of it. they want me in a boot, but i really don't want to deal with that. getting an mri sometime soon-- cross training like hell to stay in shape. maybe if i can stay on top of it, i'll heal and come back in similar shape. i really want to be running.
