Comments:
felt a little stiff and a little sore. it's funny how fast you loose it... but I suppose it hasn't been all that long that I was in really good shape. In fact, the day before thanksgiving I was just under 200 pounds, and pulling 8 minute miles like they were appetizers. Now it's been 5 long, cold, and IMHO miserable months. I hate Indiana weather if anyone asks. I spent quite of bit of time in the gym during December and January. I even logged 28 miles in January, 7 in Feb, and another 27 in March. compared to last year at this time I should be waay ahead of the curve athletically... but you know, there is just something about stress and long winters that brings a guy down. I don't feel as light and athletic as I have in the past. Perhaps my standard is higher now? Perhaps if I compared myself to the guy I was coming out of medical school I would feel pretty good about myself right now. It's all relative I guess. I mean, I remember the first time Kimmie took me running around the block. We did a simple 2.8 miles and it took me 32 minutes... and I puked. Now, I can do 3.11 miles in a very comfortable 28 minutes and I feel fat and slow. My PR for a 5K (3.11miles) is 25 minutes flat. I look back to when I was just out of medical school and that would have prolly been a 34 minute run for me. It's funny... but I guess I am actually better off. I'm hopeful this year will be my best running year ever as I have really gotten off to a much better start than ever before, and I'm just now warming up.
I saw Elshiekh today for the first time during a run. That now makes, Elshiekh, Roepke, Mellen, and K-Craig as known "sightings" during a run. LOL
