Exercise Type: Run

Comments:
2 mile warmup, 27:34 (5:05,?,16:20,?), 3 mile cooldown. This was easily the worst xc race of my life. I have never felt less able to pick up the pace, kick, make moves on people, etc. From just after the mile to around the 3.5 mile, I continuously slowed down. At the 2.5 mile mark I thought about dropping out because I couldn't get my legs to keep moving forward. This was a frightening thought for me because I have never thought about dropping out in a race (without a serious injury) before.

Starting at about 200 meters in, I just didn't feel like myself. The first mile felt really labored and it was an effort to stay with the pack. During the race I just felt really nauseous (not in the same way as when you are running hard though) and I more or less went into survival mode for the rest of the race.

The only positives that I can see are:
-This is in no way an accurate assessment of my fitness because the entire time something just felt wrong
-The team can still do ok without me running well, or even average (just kick me out the door a little faster guys, geez)
-We had all the teams beat through 5k

The negatives:
-We lost to a few teams we should have beat, and I hope it doesn't come back to keep us from going to nationals
-I ran terribly and I let the team down hard

Looking back on the week, there was a lot that I wish I could have changed. I didn't practice from Sunday through Tuesday, I missed a fair amount of sleep, and I felt sick for most of the week. These are just excuses though, so I take full responsibility. I am just writing them here so that I can make sure to fix them in the future.

I have a couple personal reflections that I want to add here (it started a couple days ago) but I will do it in subsequent log entries I think.
