Celtic Solstice 5 Miler Race

December 17, 2011 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: high 30s

Comments:
Was actually 5.1 miles; ran a 27:09. Splits were 5:06 (people thought it was short), 10:40, 16:15, 21:56. I ran 4 days out of the 2 weeks leading up to this race, and lacked sleep for most of that time too. That's what 5 engineering grad class + finals will do to you. There was a pack of 3 guys that were like 4 seconds in front of me, and I could have easily caught them if my legs didn't feel so bad. I just didn't want to dig down and make it hurt enough to pass them because it was pretty meaningless. After the race the top guys there were all exhausted, and while I do respect that, I was just kind of like, bro, I was shotgunning beers in the backyard of 3212 like 6 hours ago to celebrate being done with school, so this was hardly good preparation.

Got out pretty well, but probably too fast considering that I was not prepared at all. I don't like to go out at a cowardly pace though, and I paid for it. I'm well past my season peak, and again, not mentally invested in this race at all, so I'm not bothered by it.

This will likely be my last run for a good while, but I'm going to log season/career reflections soon, I promise.
