So, armed with my newfound cautious confidence in myself, I was ready to have a good workout today at the fields. I was put in the C2 group (second best group) and we ran 5 800s with a goal pace between 2:48 and 2:58 (I think, it might have been two seconds faster). We were hitting the upper end of that range for the most part, but I was still satisfied since I was leading most of them with Josh Simensky, our 5th runner, who just ran 18:00 at Freeport. On the last three we managed to gap the rest of the guys (Eric, Iain, and Sean, the last of which is our 7th runner who I need to beat, while Iain is our 6th runner) by a sizable amount. Of course last year there was some noticeable disparity between how I ran my workouts and how I raced, at least during XC, so it's possible this won't reflect the upcoming home meet. Still, if I can at least stick with Sean and Iain I should be in a good place to snag a varsity spot at FOC.
