Comments:
Ran the 1600 in the DMR and the 4X800 today. We won the DMR. John ran the 1200, Cullen the 400 and Sam the 800. Sam had to race Cory, so I got the baton in second place by about 1 second because they all ran so well. Shaun was running the 1600. I just sat on him for the first 1000 and then moved really hard. I broke Shaun when I moved, negative split a ton, and won by 10 seconds. Splits were 66, 73, 70, 64. Total a 4:33. A really good time for waiting so long to move. It was a lot of fun to do. I thought I raced well and I knew I was going to win after the first 200. I am really liking the 600 meter kick. I feel very comfortable doing it and it is working out really well for me. Next was the 800. I went second. I recieved in second, two seconds behind Shaker and two seconds ahead of Seth. Tom went 2:01. I had decided before that the best way for me to run a 2:04 would be a 62 and a 62, so I tried to go out under control. Seth passed me after 100 meters and Shaker was gapping me. I didn't want to lose them, so I had to go a little harder than I wanted to on the back straight, but I still felt smooth. At 300, I was about 3 seconds back. The wheels came off. I looked like Cory finishing the last 100 of an 800, but I was just finishing the last 100 of the first lap. It stayed like that for the rest of the race. It hurt a lot, but I closed in 65 after going out in 61. 2:06. A PR and a good time for having just run the 1600 hard. I caught the Shaker guy and gapped him hard with 150 left. Seth beat me by two seconds. Handed off in second, so pretty good. We came in fourth. Cooled down to the waterfall in the pitch black of night and then to the park under the highway and railroad. Real smart thing to do, but fun.
