Corning dual meet

April 28, 2015 (Afternoon)

Exercise Type: Run

Comments:
Both the guys and girls won! A great outcome. I actually had a lot of fun in this meet and was pretty happy with my times even though they were in pretty tactical races. Team warmup then I got to chill for a little before the 4x8. Then we did a team warmup away from the school through the golf course to stewart and through the bird sanctuary. Drills and about 8 strides or so later we went up the the starting line. I was up first and against Brian Bates which I thought we matched up pretty well. The race started and I immediately stuck right on his shoulder, I didn't feel all that relaxed at the beginning so I shook out my arms and felt much better we went out in like a 63 and it felt like it was a little slow. I still stayed on him until the 200 mark I tried to make my move before the turn but he fended it off very well and I couldn't get by him. It was a full out sprint after that and I either beat him by a tiny bit or we tied. I did a pretty long cool down afterwards and as soon as I knew it I had to warm up for my next race. We started warming up at like 5:50 but my race didn't end up starting till like 7:00. So we ended up doing a longer warmup and a bunch of drills and strides. I got to race Bates again and he's a fun guy to race he always hits some even splits, we started out and I got a little boxed in but I stayed patient and moved up at 300 meters. I was right on Bates should for pretty much the rest of the race. I really started feeling it after mile 1, my legs felt pretty bad but I kept pushing through it. We really picked it up with 1 lap to go. With 200 left I tried to make another move knwoing if i passed himthere I would win but he fended it off well again i took a little shove but it was clean. I tied to pass again but there was a group of girls so I couldn't. I'm really happy with a 9:52 for my first time ever running the 3200, but I know I can definitely get that time down a ton. I cooled down with Hunter Silas and the whole Corning distance team we just talked about running and stuff. I'm seeing some great improvement from our distance guys I feel like our team is starting to come together. Ian with a 10 second pr in the mile with 4:51, Noah with the 4:47, Hunter with a huge sub 10 in the 3200 and Silas with a big 10:23. When I got home I took a contrast shower which helps with recovery. It is 3 mins warm water 1 minute cold water x3. This helps because it opens up our blood vessels than closes them. The .5 miles near the bottom is all my strides.
