Safe to say that today's "workout" was an absolute s**t show.

So I decided that I wanted to do the tempo at Ramapo because my high school's track is usually filled with unsupervised kids and other random people that take up the first two lanes. To my surprise I pull up to the tennis court parking lot and I see Zac. After telling him what I'm doing, he goes "you might not want to run your tempo here, there's steeples taking up the first few lanes". Since I didn't feel like running around steeples for my workout I decided to drive back home to do the workout at my high school track. The first 400 of my workout I mentally wasn't in the right place, probably because I was mad that I wasn't able to do my workout at Ramapo, as well as, like I predicted, the fact that I had to run around kids who took up lane one and didn't know how to move out of the way. I was also a little sore from the speed work that I did yesterday, in which I made the mistake of doing it the day before my tempo. In addition, it sucked running by myself. I ran the past two tempos with someone, thus making the workout feel much smoother. I probably even felt worse last week in the tempo that I ran than I did today, but it was fact that I wasn't running with a teammate which made it feel terrible. Back to my workout, after 800 I was still on good pace to run how I wanted to run my first mile (5:35), but all of a sudden it starts pouring. From there I threw in the towel, decided to finish up the mile, and call it a quits on the workout. Went to the gym to run a few miles on the treadmill.

The thing that bothered me the most about today wasn't because of all the little events that occurred but rather the fact that I shut down mentally. I could have definitely finished my workout in the rain but instead I wasn't in the right place mentally just gave up. Pretty disappointed in today but it was a learning experience for sure. Going to give the workout another go tomorrow.
