August 8, 2015 (Afternoon)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: Cool and Cloudy, for the beach at least

Comments:
Ran to the lighthouse and back.

It was afternoon, and the sun was behind the clouds, so it was very pleasant. Half warm up. Didn't run for two days before: I was feeling sick and not getting much sleep. Still cant go in the water because of the cast, but maybe I don't want to.

There was a stray beagle in the road on the way out. A line of cars had stopped to catch it. I tried to stop it, but it juked me and ran toward the side of the road. They got it eventually, I think.

Pushed the pace a little on the way out. Really got into a stride on the stretch between the Marina and Kubel's. Tried to finish under 15:00 to the lighthouse, but underestimated the distance through the park. Had a nice break on the pier. The sun was getting ready to set.

Tried to keep pace on the way back, but got uncomfortable on the long road, so I brought it down to 7:30 ish until I reached the "Welcome to Barnegat Bay" sign, then picked it up for the last mile.

Will try to log more as summer is winding down, and I'm doing more runs without coaches. Also, this helps me avoid writing college essays.

Shins have been hurting a bit. Icing seems to help, so I'll keep that up. Hips feel alright, as long as I keep the pace up. If I get into a jog, they start bugging me. I think it may be a form issue. So, I might try to keep the steadys as cross training from now on.

I hope everyone liked the pun in the title. Out and back tomorrow.
