Out of everything I have missed about seriously training during my time away from competitive running, afternoon tempos on MLK during the late summer and fall might be one of the greatest.
Absolutely beautiful afternoon for a tempo. Coach Curtin Teare came down to help me out for this first tempo workout (which I will work in weekly now until the race). Decided to just to 3 miles to see how I'd do, and aimed for 6:00 pace. Ended up being 5:40, which is probably quicker than I should be doing this but my legs were rested so probably took off.
HR was about 172 when I finished.
Overall, good first official workout.
