Comments:
Tried to time the leaves just right and delayed running until after 9am after breakfast. The leaf fall was good, but there certainly seemed to be fewer falling as the run went on and I was pretty frustrated that it wasn't one of those perfect days when they just rain down without any wind to swirl them. I had only leaves on my mind and plenty of time. I'd avoided setting up any running partners in hopes of avoiding distractions. I wandered Chevy Chase and zig zagged my way to Bingham Dr. The decent there was my most productive few minutes, but the later ascent was completely fruitless. Once in the park, I went north along Beech Drive, veered up onto the Meg Busse Trail with little success, tried my hand at Western Ridge trail and returned southward from boundary bridge. Came back up Bingham and wandered Chevy Chase DC and MD for a bit. Saw nothing falling in front of Abby's house, but I did catch a nice one on Hesketh St one block up from Zeke's near the end when I'd decided not to go home until I was at forty for the day. The highlight of the day was #25 on an uphill sprint and lunging swoop nearing Western Ridge. feet were nice and achy during and after and it wasn't a very fresh or good feeling run. Still, my endurance was fine and while mostly hunting pace is slow, I did certainly have a few sprints for slow fallers. I entered the day with 30 for the season. I caught 38 and finish with 68. I need another few days like this or better, but my free time is limited as work is picking up.
