After a walk on the high line with the family, my dad and I walked over to his gym on the Hudson. We ran 4 laps on his indoor track and I determined that his route in those outside lanes is about 35 meters longer than a 400m. After doing a stiff, tired 12:00 minute mile with him, I tried to pickup the pace and loosen up for another 9 minutes or so. I wasn't feeling it, but I talked myself into doing 4x400 with 45 second recovery jogs. I did loosen a bit as I went, but the flat, corner turns in the far end were tough and I never found the motivation to take this workout to a more "invested" level. I was definitely feeling the strong run through the park yesterday.

then jogged about 4:00 with my dad for half of that. He and I finished his last 100 with a kick. I want to be running 3 miles in 36 minutes when I'm 81. Best part of the experience was the steam room and free razor after the run.
