July 24, 2016 (Afternoon)
Exercise Type: Run
Weather: upper 90s and fairly humid, bright sun
Comments:
A few tasty pastries and a peach when I awoke and then a rousing set of tennis with Chuck at 8:30am. Felt good and played well, but probably never properly re-hydrated afterwards. Then, spent some time at the poo in the afternoon and swam about 9 laps, mostly alternating crawl with lengths of backstroke and breastroke for recovery. I'm a terrible swimmer, and it felt unduly hard, but I'm glad I did it. The run itself was at 4:30 when I drove to Bethesda and parked near Battery Lane. Jogged slowly (16 minutes) out to Johnson and picked up a Lion for the next 20 minutes. Pace was on the slow side, I think, as I was very depleted of energy... maybe the tennis and swim, maybe the short night's sleep, maybe having given blood Friday, pretty clearly dehydrated. A glass of water and 10 minutes in AC helped a fair bit. On the route back, I never crossed Old Georgetown, but found great, mostly shady back streets with several pedestrian paths. Got back to the car, staggered for a bit, stretched some and came home to guzzle water and home-mixed chocolate milk. This one took a lot out of me.
