Today was not a good race for me, although my quads weren't really sore like the past few days. I arrived late to practice, meaning I was late to start running the course for a warmup. I accidentally added a little bit of distance to the warmup too. When the time trial started, I was immediately towards the back of the entire group, and remained there up the first hill. But on the first right turn I started to get more comfortable and passed a couple of people within a few minutes. Then there was Everest. I'm not someone who walks up hills, so I made myself at least keep up a light jog up the hill, which allowed me to gain some ground on the people ahead of me, who walked up it. It's a tough hill, so I understand why people walk up it. Personally, though, I would feel very mad at myself later on if I had walked at any point today during the race. Once I crested the hill, I was neck and neck with Aidan (the younger one), but I ended up finishing about 5-10 seconds behind him. I was not proud of the way I raced today. Hills seem to be a weakness of mine. I'm not sure why because over the summer almost all of my runs included good hills. My final placement was also different in this time trial than the last. Did a cooldown with the team, and then stretching. I didn't see anything in the bin that I wanted, probably because my team got last pick. Warmup and cooldown distances are approximate.
