Comments:
Definitely some rookie mistakes today, for me that is. The bus from ACS leaves pretty early, but I prefer to change there because I still don't end up with enough time to change at IHS. So, today I biked from ACS to IHS, but I left a little bit later than I expected and was late to practice. Ended up just running with Jake to Stewart, which was cool. I haven't run with him before, so that was cool. Got to Stewart, ran the course in spikes, then did drills and strides before the workout. The interval after the warmup, that says easy, was when we ran the course before the workout in our spikes. I didn't include it with the ru nto Stewart because I am trying to keep track of the mileage on my spikes and running shoe separately. I was put in the last group, with Garrett, Samson, and Walter, with 3:38 as our goal tempo. #:38 felt too slow to me, but what I didn't realize was that I was taking the tempos too fast, which made my race speed on the 3rd and 4th too slow because I had already. I was able to separate myslef from the rest of my group during about the 3rd rep, but I was still treating the tempos too fast, at least for me. I guess that's something that you learn, so I won't make that mistake again. Near the end of the 3rd rep, Coach B told me I was going too fast, that I should be doing tempo pace, not race, but I think that he thought I was on my 2nd rep, because reps 3 and 4 were supposed to be fast for my group. I then slowed down a little bit, so rep 3 could've been a little faster. I decided to do 6 reps in total, even though I was supposed to do 5, because I was still feeling good and wanted to get the most out of the workout. Unfortunately, my watch memory filled up after rep 4 so I had to ask Liam afterwards. He recorded my 5th rep as 2:54, which was definietly not correct. I remember lookign at my watch on rep 6 and noticing that I had the same exact time, 3:32, as the last rep. Anyway, soemthing I can take away from this workout was that I need to keep my tmepos a little slower, or jsut pick it up even more on the race reps, because there wasn't a ton of variation between all 6 reps. Also this was my first workout in my new spikes, because I had to return the first pair I ordered because they were too small, that's why my spieks came later. Did a cooldwon with the JV guys. Cooldown distance and time (watch ran out of memory, will erase it now) is approximate, because the trail through the woods from the little pond in Stewart Park, to the bridge, is not recognized on World Topo in MMR. Did hrudles and then abs when we got back.
