Weather: Derf the course is faster on the way out because the turn slows you down a lot

Today was a great day mentally for myself. I mentally prepared for this workout all day today and as a result was ready to push myself more in this workout. We started with a longer warmup into fall creek then we headed over to the golf course for the workout. We got our spikes and everything and headed over to the course and when I was walking with Derf we didn't say one word to each other. I was intense all day today and only was thinking about pushing Derf in this workout. My competitive instincts took over and me and Derf were just intense. I was dead focused on the warmup and once the workout started I was ready to go. Our first rep was perfectly paced. Then the hammers came and the pace was great again. I could tell Derf was breathing a little harder than usual so I made sure to keep pushing it so we hit some good times on the hammers. I felt pretty good throughout the whole first set. After the next rep pace 400 we went straight into the tempo. I felt the tempo for the first 2-3 minute a lot and then I worked to get back up with Derf for the rest of it. The tempos definitely felt a lot harder for me. I stuck with him for the last half of the tempo and I was thankful that he pushed me through this part and made sure that I would help repay the favor for the next set of 400s. The next rep pace was also good and I felt like my pacing all in all today was great. The hammers also felt really good to me. My breathing was just smooth and I was breathing somewhat harder than normal. I wanted to get more out of the next hammer so I pushed the pace a little more and we hit a 62. It felt just as good for me as the 65s did. The next rep pace I could tell we were going a little quick from the start I wanted to hang back and hit the time but instead I stuck up with Derf. Going into the tempo I was hurting a good amount. I was breathing pretty hard and was working extra hard to keep up. I could tell Derf was squeezing down the pace and I was a good 5-10 meters behind. He told me that I had to get back on him and I worked to get back up on him for the last 2 mins or so when I finally took control over my breathing again. When we went into the 200's I got mad. I just wanted to drop Derf. The first 200 I took it out strong, Silas was doing a great job holding on and I was only a little ahead. I had maybe another gear left but I saved it a little for the last one because that tempo took a lot of the wind out of my legs. The last 200 I just threw it down. All that mental preparing really payed off for sure. I thanked Silas's for pushing me afterwards. Though I kept telling myself that I wanted to dust him during the workout this is a team effort and me and him really worked as a team today pushing each other. The team just had a different vibe today. We were all here working our asses off for a common goal. Everyone just killed it today. Can't praise the guys enough for stepping up. Throughout the workout I kept telling myself I'm the top dog, I'm ready to take it and that really helped confidence wise. Every time I would snap out of it mentally I would remind myself and I would put on a little surge. I just had that fire in me all today. That talk yesterday really just lit a fire in me in general. Good day in the office today.
