Exercise Type: Run
Weather: some wind, and chilly in the 40s
Comments:
Took a break form working on report cards and ran with Jon Ettinger. He picked me up (only one of several ways in which the roles have reversed) at 3:30pm and we headed down Glover to Reservoir. As he took his blood sample, I realized I needed a bathroom break after the large, late lunch. G-Town Hospital served the purpose and we returned up 38th St and into the Whitehaven Trail. Took that up Glover and back to 3944 where I gave Jon some cider and ditched him for a shower as I was now late to get Anna to her tap performance. The noteworthy piece of this run wasn't just that I felt strong and good after the pit stop (Pace while slow in the woods, dropped to 7:00ish coming home through Teneley), but that my left calf, deep under the gastroc, began to hurt out of the blue just before the climb up to New Mexico Ave. I proceeded to pause to stretch what I hoped was a cramp at every intersection, but it did no good. The calf was awful for the rest of the run and after my shower and for the next 24 hours I couldn't walk without a limp. As I write this on Monday, 42 hours later, can walk without a noticeable limp, but stairs are still tough and an attempted jog to my car was a BAD idea. Age.
