Comments:
Pretty crazy day today. Stepped up and did my second triple ever. Got to the meet and did a 15 minute warmup with a tempo at the end. After I jogged around the infield for a little and did drills and strides before my race. The 4x8 started and our lineup was Ian, Xander, Neil, then me. The conditions were really bad, it was pretty cold and the wind was crazy. Ian got us off to a good start in second, Xander made up some ground on the top guy and Neil held his own to keep us in second. I got the baton maybe like 25-30 meters back from first. I went out in 55, I knew that I had to get out hard to stay within reach of the top guy. It didn't feel too bad going out the wind was tough but I got through it. I was hunting the top guy down and started to push hard at 300 out. Closed a lot but wasn't close enough at the end. Weishaar said I got 1:58, but someone else told me I got 1:59, I'll go with 1:58 I guess. I was really happy with that time in poor conditions but wanted the win. Got in a 15 min cooldown, hung my legs then did a 10-15 min warmup for my next event after like 2 and a half hours. I was doing an open 8 the first I've done in awhile. The plan was to stay on the top guy and let him take the win and then kick with like 150 left. The race got out and I didn't. I didn't get out hard at all and was crazy boxed in the guy from Oswego I wanted to sit on got a great start and had like 20 meters on me and the group I was boxed in with at 200. At 150 I pulled a move out into lane 3 to get around the group which wasted a lot of energy. Went out in 31 which was way slower than what I did before which I went out in like 26. Was running in no man's land trying to close the gap on the guy from Owego for pretty much the rest of the race after that. Went through at 1:01, and closed the gap a little on the guy but not much and finished in 2:01. Still alright for the conditions but wanted a little faster. I wasn't sure if I wanted to do the 4x4 or not after because I wanted to ended off hard, no matter what though if the team needed me I was gonna hop in it. I got in 15 minutes for running then a 5-10 minute warmup, and at that point I though I wasn't gonna run the 4x4 I got the last minute call that I was gonna be running it like 20 minutes before the race. I felt really dehydrated at that point but I was just gonna gut it out. Timothy went out hard and got us the lead. Then reed went out and gave it all he could but got passed by a few guys at the end. Abe went next and really killed it. He got us back into the race and I got the baton 25 meters down. I was just trying to run as hard as I could, my legs were already pretty dead and the wind didn't help but I was closing hard on the guy ahead of me. I was tying up but caught up with 50 meters left we went head to head for a little bit but he just outleaned me at the end. I leaned at the end and my legs just completely tied up and I sorta tumbled across the line. I was crazy hyped about our team winning the meet and I think that 4x4 had a big part of the win. Finished with a 5 minute cooldown at the end. My legs were pretty done after that. A little frustrated after 3 2nd places but I got a good 24 points for the team. Those will all be 1sts soon. Time to get back to work for the next few weeks before the next meet. Meters at 2nd to last are all my strides/jogging for warmup.
