Duel meet today with Corning. The plan was for me to just sit and kick it out in all my races, just win as easily as possible. The day started out with us warming up 10 of our guys for the 4x8 to make the other team either use their top guys to tire them out or to use the weaker guys and then make it easier for our guys to win. The race started out with Noah, Ian, Neil and Xander. Noah had a really great race hitting right around 2 flat. He was really pushing the Corning guy at the end. Next was Ian he ran a solid 2:06 to keep us in it. Neil went up next hitting a solid 2:09 or so and moved us up into first. Xander anchored and Quinn passed him after the first 300 then Xander latched on and outkicked him in the last 100 which was fun to watch. I was racing the 1600 next I was gonna do the same thing as Xander and kick with 100 left. I warmed up for a little, got drills and strides in and headed to the line. I was in a little bit of a funk for some reason I think I was taking the meet to seriously. So Weishaar told me to take a walk before my event and get it out of me, I'm not normally like that. The race started and I slide right into the pack. I was in around 4th just ready to match anyone's move. After the first 2 laps, Priscilla started making a move so I moved up to catch him. I didn't want to give him too much room because I wasn't sure if he was gonna die or not. I wanted to stay back on Quinn but I just couldn't risk letting Priscilla go and betting that he would die at the end. With a lap to go, he died and Quinn moved up I kicked with 100 to go and caught up to him but got outleaned at the line. I was pretty pissed and told myself that no way was I gonna get beat in the 800. I did a short cooldown and warmup because I only had like 30 mins between my events. I went to the line with Xander and a few other of our guys and it looked like Corning had a weak squad out there. I wasn't about to let that phase me and I was gonna keep my plan anyways. Got out pretty slow like 1:07-1:08 or something, it felt like a jog. I moved up into second and then with almost 200 left I felt Xander on my shoulder and knew we were good to go. I kicked with 200 left and left the Corning kid in the dust. I probably closed in about 28 and I cruised in the last 50. I put on about 5 seconds on the next Corning guy in the last 200, Xander got second and Sampson ran a 2:17 which is moving. It felt good and had me pumped. I wanted to run in the 4x8 because I felt really good but Parker said we already lost the meet so I didn't have to. Had fun watching Ian and Noah in the 400 hurdles. And after that Silas did well in a 3200 and Neil did pretty well for being in no man's land for a 3200. Our team lost the meet though which had me pretty mad. Finished with some laps of strides on the straights jogging the curves.
