One of the better workouts I've ever had. Just felt really good all workout and wasn't afraid to test myself. Got to the track and it was somewhat hot but not crazy bad, the school sign said 77 degrees. Started with a 10 minute warmup into fall creek then did a few drills and strides. The first part of the workout would be a tempo mile before we got into the second part which was 3x600. My goal pace for the tempo mile was 5:16. I always like pushing the first half of tempo miles because it then feels much better for me on the second half, and you don't have to worry about pushing it. Finished in 5:11, so a little quick but the guys behind me were too quick, Ian and Xander ran 10 seconds or so too quick and Neil went like 20 seconds too quick. Weishaar wasn't really happy about that. We got a few minutes rest before getting into the 600's after. My goal pace was 61-63 then to close faster than that pace. The main thing I wanted to focus on was staying within my pace for the first 400 and really killing the last part, I didn't want to ruin my workout by going out too hard for the first rep. The groups were me by myself, Ian and Xander, and then Ben and Neil, we would each go out 5 seconds after each other so we could each run our own paces. The first rep I went out a little too hard, going out in 14 for 100 and 30 for 200, slowed it down and came through 400 at 63, then closed hard in a 28 for 1:31. haven't felt this good closing in awhile and I knew after this one the workout would be good. We got 6 minutes in between reps so I would walk and jog around a little bit, that was plenty of time after the first one but after the second one I was still hurting after 6 minutes. the next one started and I went out hard again coming through in 30 then coming through the 400 at 62, I felt really strong during the second 200 of the first 400, closed almost all out in a 28 again to hit 1:30 for the full rep. I was hurting after this one like I said before and I had a lot of lactic acid left over, I knew the last one would be a grind but I wanted to go out strong. Went out hard again for the last one but ended up even splitting the first 400 in 31-31 for 62 for the first 400, just closed as hard as I possibly could at the end even though I was tying up hard, to close in 29 and 1:31 for my last rep. Finished the day with a 15 minute cool down and a ton of food at Northstar. Overall I was really happy with today's workout I even surprised myself a little bit. But it gives me confidence going into the real championship season.
