Ernst and Young

December 31, 2017 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: 18 degrees and sun

Comments:
Well, this title isn't really just, but I met up with Julia Ernst and (young) Liam Albrittain at the VA end of Chain Bridge at 9:00am after yet another good night's sleep (except for the fact that Sally has taken to jumping onto our bed a few times every night since we returned from CA). WE headed across the bridge, onto the canal, up Reservoir, Overlook trail past my classroom and under the canal at foot of Glover, back (into the wind along Crescent) with a 7:17 mile up to Fletchers, overshot the bridge on the towpath to see the hockey players just south of lock 5 and doubled back to the bridge and the cars. Felt good, pace was consciously strong, but I wasn't straining, and could have gotten going a bit more if all had been willing. Still, it was a quality run for me for sure, and my back was immediately achy after we stopped and when I got out of the car at Dupont Market. Time for a visit to Dr. Beck. Pleased to have bounced back with a decent week of running (despite the day off) after a low week last week.

1455 miles in 2017 and that is 30 or so more miles than I ran last year. Also, I ran 122 miles in December, and that is the most I've run in a December since I did 122 in December of 2012. I guess that means I should keep my focus going into the next few months.
