A solitary workout doesn't make a season, but it is better than nothing

Mark Berenson nicely agreed to do a workout with me in the afternoon. He came to my house and we jogged down Dorsett to Crescent and River Rd spot. A few striders and the briefest of drills, but I felt pretty loose and not too bad before we started. The plan was 4x1600 with 90-120 seconds of recov. First one was downhill and we may have gotten a little carried away. 5:34 with a first half mile at 2:42. oops. the next two were uphill and I can't claim to have felt comfortable. 6:03 with a split of 2:59/3:04. Then 6:07 with a split of 3:03/3:04 (That final quarter mile took some effort and a bit of a kick.) Final mile was back downhill to River Rd and that felt much ore manageable as we weren't going into the wind, nor were we going uphill, and it was the last one. Mark started ahead of me on this one as he'd been well out ahead on all of them 30-40 seconds for most and his cooldowns were getting too long. 5:43 with splits of 2:52/2:51 (definitely had a controlled kick on this one). Most of the recoveries were between 1:45 and 2:00 -getting longer as the workout progressed. Before we started and at times after and during, I was aware of an odd new ache at the bottom of the pelvis where my rolling the day before must have tweaked something. All in all, I felt like I was straining on the uphills, not really in control or showing the form and composure 'd have liked... Felt like the first workout in a good, long while, but I am pleased that my legs had this sort of speed. By my calculations, my effort on all the intervals would have given me sub 6:00 pace had I been on flat ground the whole time. I've added the three 2 minute cool-downs as a .5 mile recovery below.
